Pool pumps
There are four factors to take into account when searching for pool
pumps.
• Flow rating
• Service Factor
• Energy efficiency
• High or medium head
Flow rating determines to the amount of water a pool pump can move
and in how much time. Service factors help to determine the amount of
power a pool pump has, pumps with higher service factors generally have
more power and are less likely to overheat or overload. Energy efficiency
will save money in the overall life span of a pool pump, since it reduces
the amount of energy spent on running the pump.
The high or medium head classification of pool pumps refers to the
amount of resistance pool pumps can withstand. Medium head pumps produce
more flow on average and work well with DE filtered pools because they
create less pressure. High head pumps are more efficient than the medium
when faced with resistance, and are best used with pools that require
backwashing.
